Frequently asked questions

In this page we provide answers to many of our patients’ most frequently asked questions. If you cannot find an answer to your questions here please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Q: I have private health insurance. Do I still need to pay?

At JACO Dental, we want to ensure your visit to the dentist is as smooth and easy as possible. That’s why we offer on-the-spot HICAPS claiming so you don’t need to spend your time claiming for your dental services. The amount covered by private health insurances varies depending on your private health fund policy. Please check with your health fund for details. In general, most private health funds will provide 60-80% cover for any given dental treatment up to your yearly limit. As such, a gap payment is usually required for most dental treatments.

Q: I don’t have private health insurance. How much will I have to pay?

This is a great question that many people ask us. Due to the wide variety of dental services and procedures, we would really like to discuss this with you in person. This ensures our dentists work with you to create a treatment plan to suit your needs. Please call us to make an appointment or book online.

Q: Do you bulk bill under Medicare?

At JACO Dental we believe that good dental hygiene starts from childhood. That’s why we offer Medical Bulk Billing under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. This provides $1000-worth of basic dental treatments for eligible children aged 2 to 17 years old, and includes examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canal treatments and extractions. Please check with Medicare for further details and the eligibility of your child.

Q: Are you a preferred provider?

There are many health funds that offer and promote their 'preferred provider' platform for allied health services such as dental.  We do not subscribe to these preferred provider programs as we believe you should base your health choices on the treating doctor/dentist/allied health professional, not solely on how much your health fund pays. Consider a health fund that pays fair returns at ANY registered health provider practice in Australia.

Q: Who can I talk to to compare my private health fund cover?

We recommend Fair Health Care Alliance.  They are independent health insurance advisers who help match their clients to a health insurance policy that suits them best.
